And I'm worried

Ryan had his 1 year check up today. The peditricain said that he is healthy but he is concerned about his weight. Ryan weight 18lbs 3 oz and is well below "average" for his age. I have to take him back in one month to have his weight checked and if he hasen't gained they are going to do blood work to see if there is a reason why since he is eating more than enough food. I wanted to cry right there in the Dr's office when he said that he was worried but I kept it together. It makes me feel like I have been doing something wrong like not feeding him enough, evne though I know that is not the case. So hopefully in 1 month he will have gained some weight but in the mean time I am supposed to get him to eat as much as possible!

Happy Easter

We have been out of town spending the week at the beach. Had a great time spending time with the family photos to come soon. Today started off with easter baskets and who doesn't like candy for breakfast? The evening ended with an easter egg hunt with my nephew ( and some very melted candy filled eggs) and dinner! I love that we get to spend time together.

Feeling Helpless

Saturday morning I was woken up at 2:30 in to Hailey crying. I went in her room to see what was wrong and she had thrown up all over her bed and carpet. I put her in new pj's and stuck her in my bed while I went back to tackel the mess in her room. This occurred two more times till I decided to just keep her in bed with me. It is the worst feeling when your child is sick especially sine she really doesn't understand why she is throwing up. Saturday she just was not herself all day, she wanted to cuddle which is something that she rarely does. So we spent the day watching movies, reading books, and cuddling on the couch. She had plenty of toast, bananas ans applesauce and seemed to be keeping everything down. By Sunday she was fine, in fact we spent all day outside playing.

Then comes Monday and I woke up at 3am to realize that I had  gotten what Hailey had but on a good note Ryan had not gotten it or so I thought. My husband took both kids to the babysitters so I could spend the day in bed. Th babysitter called me at 1 to inform me that Ryan had started throwing up, great just what I did  not want to hear.

I hate feeling like here is nothing I can do to make them feel better when they are sick. All I can do is comfort them but I really wish I cold just make it go away. Hailey kept telling me "it hurts" while she was holding her tummy. It broke my heart and I wished there was something more that I could do other than tell her it would be ok and she would feel better soon.

So here it is Tuesday and I am home from work with both kids. We all seem to be feeling better we are back to playing and smiling and eating!

Finally walking

We were spoiled with Hailey she walked at 10.5 months. With her it was like she decided to walk and that was it the day she took her first steps she walked across the family room and never looked back. Ryan is a little less interested in walking. He has been cruising for months something Hailey never really did but really has not been interested in letting go for long. Sure he would take one or two steps before falling down but he finally decide to try taking a few more. I am sure a few weeks from now I will be wishing he was still only crawling when I am trying to chase the kids in opposite directions.

Mommy fail #343

We have two dogs that bark at everything including leaves, plastic bags, and people 100 yards down the road. I am usually quick to throw out a "shut up Rocky" or "shut up Ruby" at them. Unfortunately " shut up" seems to be Hailey's new favorite phrase. Every time Ryan is crying or making noises I hear "shut up Ryan" Great! I keep telling her that it is not nice to say that but obviously I have been a bad example. Lesson learned.

Changing Me

I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life. I have never been small. In high school I always felt huge compared to all of the other girls even though I was a two sport athlete an in relatively good shape. Then I went to school and gained the famed freshmen fifteen and though I was huge. My sophomore year I started playing Lacrosse and got back in shape.

Fast forward to now. I have had two children in two years and do not like the reflection I see when I look in the mirror. For quite some time I complained about how large I was but never did anything about it. The weight was just going to magically come off right? Wishful thinking! In February my husband convinced me to join a gym with him. I had not set even a toe in the gym in almost 5 years. It took some convincing but I agreed.

Getting back into the gym was just the first step. I realized that that alone would not be enough to achieve the goal I had set for myself which was to loose 55 ( yes you read that correctly) pounds. I was also going to have to change the way I ate. That task is almost harder then committing to get back  in the gym. I started using myfitnesspal.com to track everything I ate. Let me tell you what an eyeopener that was. I really did not realize how bad we were eating.

To keep myself motivated I took some before pictures and have the hanging on the bathroom mirror so I have to see them every morning while I am getting ready for work. Eventually I will be able to compare them to the results to see just how far I have come. ( For the record I cannot believe I am posting these pictures it is extremely embarrassing but here they are for all to see)

It is still definitely a work in progress but  I am down 12 lbs and have been sticking to going to the gym and eating healthy so hopefully I will get back to where I want to be someday. I think that it is definitely going to be a long journey but one well worth taking.

Finger Paints

This Christmas my brother bought Hailey finger paints and paper. He was very proud of his gift and the mess it would make. I think he forgets that he someday I will have the opportunity to get even. I hate messes so I don't bring the finger paints out often, in fact it hides in the closet with the play dough but yesterday was one of those days that it made an appearance. This time I decided to be brave and let Ryan attempt to paint, so I stripped him down and let him have fun.  Both kids had a great time painting and went right from the table to the tub. Unfortunately Ryan decided to give it at taste an wound up with a blue tong.

I must be crazy

I must be crazy to think that I have time for a blog but I have convinced myself that this is a good thing to do so here goes!

I am a working mom of two kids. Hailey who turned 2 in November and Ryan who will be 1 next week. My life is never dull, in fact there are many days that I feel like all I do is go. Despite never having a free moment life is good. I have two great kids, two dogs that I can take or leave but the kids love them , and a great husband so what more could I ask for?
